About

“Now more than ever do I realize that I will never be content with a sedentary life, that I will always be haunted by thoughts of a sun-drenched elsewhere.”
Isabelle Eberhardt, The Nomad: The Diaries of Isabelle Eberhardt

There are people who are satisfied with one hobby; they give their 100% passion to that one hobby. Me– I am different– always in search of elsewhere. My attention span is of a butterfly. I move from one thing to another very fast. But, over the period of time, I learned that stories, food and travel are my favorite “elsewhere”s. I have a dedicated space for writing and reading(and ranting, of course). This is another of place to share stories of “elsewhere”s, for the stories where words alone are insufficient and sometimes, not even needed. I am not a (professional) photographer, and I am sure that it is visible in the pictures that I post here.I am a dreamer, a storyteller, a writer and a hobbyist. Photography is just an outlet for the stories that I want to tell, another medium I can utilize for expressing myself.

The name used here is not my real name. I am somebody else in real life– an engineer who works in 9 to 5 job (actually 9:30- 5:30 job) for six days a week. This blog is when I leave the office and turn to the sojourns that simmer in my mind.  I also rant blog about the books I read and stories I write(in planning) on my other blog, but since I wanted to keep the identities of the blog separate, this another place was created.

About the name: Parichita is a feminization of a Hindi word, Parichit, which means acquaintance, accustomed, known.

When I was young (that doesn’t mean that I’m old now!), my teacher asked me to select an alternate name. She asked me to think about my special quality. I, with my scrunched eyes and running nose, pondered that question for a moment and replied, “Everybody knows me. I’m not famous, but they all know I’m here. Is that a special quality?” The teacher very gravely nodded at my answer and gave me a made-up word Parichita.

Parichita is not my real name, but this is the personality I hope to adopt in this storyland. I will be ecstatic if you want to become my friend, but in the meantime, I’ll settle for being a writer/reader who’s known to all.
